SUMMERTIME BLUES 2013

CONGRATULATIONS TO:
The Nanaimo Blues Society and Volunteers
for all the hard work at
The Nanaimo Summertime Blues Festival
2011!
A THANK YOU MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
NANAIMO BLUES SOCIETY 2011
I hope you will join me in giving a Big Shout Out to All
our Board of Directors:
Al (Black) Davie (Vice President)
- he brings
far more than drumsticks to the table. Great business perspective as a
performer and tireless effort in doing whatever needs done.
Laura
Masur (Treasurer) - she brings Everything to the table. She is our
'Director of The Year' doing more than any of us imagined. Our level
head & cheering section all i onen. JoyAnne Masur
- our shy newbie
has found her footing as a 'Just Do It' kinda girl, with a strong radar
for 'what's fair' and 'what's not right'. Doug Fetherston
- also new
to the team, he is constantly showing many hidden talents. The Festival
T-shirt logo is his design, a great photographer and a blues fan like
none.
Valerie Mumford - her dedication to community and
volunteerism is second to none. Like all of us, she loves The Party and
wanting to contribute. Another Big Shout out to both
Eric
McLean & James Taylor for all their contributions to the board leading
to the event. You are directors that we will miss and I hope our
community will continue to produce individuals that want to contribute
more, in advancing our common passion for live music and Nanaimo
Summertime Blues! Manda Chelmak exemplifies support to the
society, without being on the board. We couldn't have pulled this off
without her many talents and tricks. True of many others on the team but
such a catalyst for us all while we hit various hurdles along the way.
It's been quite the rollercoaster ride and I even caught Manda from
jumping off at the top once or twice but it's in that journey we find
some of our best stuff. And make the best friends. The calm dude
through it all was Rick Becker making the real part of this come
together - The Stage & Sound. This has & always will be about the
performers and making them shine. His team including
Donnie Mac our
hired sound guru, were so professional and courteous always. Nothing but
rave reviews as I spoke with the performers about their experience on &
backstage. A huge component of the festival plan was to
introduce a beer garden and this simply wouldn't have happened without
The A team. Ian Andexser took on the whole project with friend
Joanne
Ness while Ian's wife Dianne managed our Green room for the 5th year
running. Nancy Mitchell gave herself up at Merchandise tent like
every other year I remember but that on top of being our webmaster year
round. So many others who have been there year after year but so likely
I will forget many, so I will finish with Big Thanks to
Billieboy & Val
Lucas for showing us the way and for being able to relax & enjoy the
performance this year! Billieboy booked our headline acts and was so
happy when I confirmed he could do some MC while I cut my teeth on part
of it. Catch Billieboy Saturdays at 7:00pm on CHLY. Thanks for
making me, you and our beautiful community look so good Everybody!
With Blues On, Keith Davenport
