Every time that I have a talk with a supporter of the Blues Society the accolades just keep coming. Comments with regards to our Sunday Blues Jam continue on more that just a positive note. So encouraging to realize just how much fun the audience and the musicians are having. We consistently draw folks from Victoria to Courtney and Port Alberni to Duncan and all points in-between. Musicians are always incredibly complimentary and the host bands continue to share their knowledge and expertise with the jammers. The egos are parked at the door and the only aim is to play music and have a blast. This has translated into the “Best Blues Room” on Vancouver Island and possibly even outshining the infamous Yale Hotel in Vancouver.
We are on the hunt for a Volunteer Coordinator. The NBS has set up a template to follow but needs someone to step up to the plate and help us out. It is a challenging position but with the help of our amazing board members it will be a truly rewarding experience. Please contact myself at email@example.com for more information.
We are shifting into high gear as we get closer to Summertime Blues 2016. Board members are hard at work ensuring that all bases as covered. We have enlarged our venue as the number of folks attending increases. We have experienced 17% growth each year over the last three years. The Summertime Blues has certainly become a major international event for Vancouver Island and the City of Nanaimo. Early bird tickets are still available from the Port Theatre Ticket office or at The Queens — but only until July 31st. $125 for 21 international acts over 3 full days is an absolute bargain!
See you in August.
